Smoking weed not only gets you high but also gets your piece dirty. It shouldn’t be all leisure and no responsibilities. Because who would like to see their pipes and bongs dirty when they feel like smoking again? If you don’t clean your pipes or bongs, there will be resin buildup that will block the air path. Apart from a smoking experience you’d better avoid, this also can cause harm to your health greatly.

So we request you to be responsible when smoking and after smoking. Cleaning your piece isn’t a hassle. You can do that quite easily. And this little guide here is to help you with just that.

Are you using a Glass or Acrylic Bong?

Owning a 2020’s glass or acrylic bong is one thing. But cleaning them takes a whole lot of patience though it’s an easy task.

What if your friends are coming over for a smoking session and find a dusty old desk lamp looking thing instead of the bong (which is actually your dirty bong). A fine evening just got ruined.

If you are using a borosilicate glass pipe or an acrylic piece, you should clean it regularly. And the best cleaning agent we recommend is isopropyl alcohol. To do this systematically, we recommend getting 92% isopropyl alcohol, a ziplock bag, some salt, and a Q-tip. Just drop by Vapor Loft, Kansas City to learn more about alternative cleaning methods and cleaning agents, and to explore our collection of cool pipes, rigs and bongs.

To begin, place your piece in the ziplock bag and pour the alcohol into the bag till the piece is fully submerged. Then add salt and zip it up. Let it soak for at least 1 hour (we recommend 3 hours). This will break down the resin buildup. Once you’ve waited long enough, start shaking the bag. The salt will act as an abrasive to remove dirt. Now get the piece out and rinse it with warm water while buffing the surface with the Q-tip. That’s it. Your piece is clean again.

If it’s a bong you have, simply follow the same procedure above with the bowl and downstep in place of the pipe. Fill the bong with isopropyl alcohol and salt, and plug the holes. Once you are sure that all the holes are sealed properly, just shake the bong. Rinse everything once you are done. You now have a clean bong.

Are you using a Silicone piece?

Silicones are pretty durable, and easy to clean. However, we don’t recommend using isopropyl alcohol to clean your silicone piece. This will degrade the material. You can just use soap and water to clean it.

If you are a patient person, you can just clean the piece with water and put it in the freezer while it’s still wet. Once the layer of ice freezes properly (takes several hours), just take it out and break down the ice. The resin goes with it.

That’s it. All clean and good to go.
